State of the Tank: (cont.)
November 2004 (cont.)
have back much of the vertical growth I lost during the CS/IO disaster. I’m also happy to report that all of the equipment is working well and the numbers are stable. Hopefully, next month will be even less eventful than this one.
December 2004
It wasn’t... Not that anything really, REALLY bad happened; there was just a little more going on this month than I would’ve hoped. As usual, it all started with Reef Central…

[In my own defense here, I’m really not on RC as much as I may lead you to believe. In fact, the more its main board seems to be taken over by kids who seem to post the same questions over and over again, the more I find myself relegated to the ‘specialist’ forums to seek any real information. I’m also frequenting the many smaller boards and cumulatively, I probably post there even more than I do RC. But the vast majority of my correspondence is through one-on-one emails from you guys, which I continue to appreciate. What gets me into ‘trouble’ on Reef Central however is my participation in its “Show me your ___________” threads. Now, I enjoy showing off my corals as much as I love seeing what other people have, but I understand that sometimes, this comes with a price. If someone sees something

they really like, they’ll quite naturally want a frag andthere’s nothing wrong with that, especially if they’re willing to pay. Unfortunately, as of this writing, there are currently 80,000 members on RC and if just 1% saw something they really like, that’s 80 frags. Do YOU have any corals large enough to glean 80 frags?

Actually, the largest request I’ve ever gotten for any of my stuff was approximately 50 (Acanthastrea). But my point is, these are the kinds of problems I get myself into when I post in my favorite kinds of RC threads so it’s one of the reasons I don’t do it as much as I used to.]

Well, what happened this time was I posted in a thread entitled “Show Me Your Birdsnests” or some such. Well, my Birdnest is certainly no prize; what with its chronic infestations of cyano and Valonia algae deep within its branches. But I must’ve been bored that day; so I posted it. The next day I get a private message requesting a frag. At first I thought this was pretty funny since there were some truly stunning examples of this coral posted by other people. But this person was interested in mine because the blunt tips on its branches made it unusual and he wanted to study it.

Now, if you follow the boards at all and especially Reef Central, I’m sure you’ve seen this guys’ ‘handle’. He goes by Bomber on RC and he’s a long time
