My viewing
room is a 12'x16' sanctuary that, in addition to the tank, contains
a couch ,
a Daybed and my "reefkeepers library"
which includes every issue of FAMA back to 1978
with the exception of Feb., March, July, and Nov.
I am actively looking for these issues by the
way so if you know where I can find any of them
(in good condition), please please please get
in touch with me. But getting back to the room,
it also houses a small collection of African/Pacific
art; the highlight of which is a display of antique
New
Guinean fighting knives
which were made from the bones of cassowary birds.
One however is reputed to be a human femur.
I almost never get to relax in this room. First
of all, it's one of the first places my
daughter (and my wife) will look for me. Second,
if I'm home alone and try to settle in,
I'll inevitably find something in the tank
that needs my immediate attention (read: tinkering).
I'm trying to get better at this. So sometimes
I'll bring in a radio and WILL myself to
relax only to immediately fall asleep before I've
had a chance to enjoy anything.
Stay tuned for updates as one of these days,
I'm
actually going to 'view' the tank. |

The
Workroom:
Depending on where you stand, this room measures
(Images ,
either 8',4', or 0' x 16', 10', or 8'. In any
event,
it's way too
small. This is a testament to very poor planning
and in many respects it could use a complete overhaul,
as there are so many things I would like to put
back there, such as a quarantine tank, a frag
grow out tank, a sensible sump/refugium set up,
and a ‘fridge. But at least the floor drain
works so in spite of it all, life is still good.
Unless it gets hot. And with that, dear reader,
you now know EVERYTHING there is to know about
my reeftank and the system around it. If you have
any questions, comments, suggestions or you'd
actually like even more detail on any of the subjects
covered here, e-mail me and I'll do my best to
respond as quickly as possible.
Time to check out the inhabitants now.
Thanks for coming by.
